Business review: HTC S710 smartphone

An HTC mobile phone

Verdict:

HTC’s latest handset fits a hideaway qwerty keyboard into a compact candy-bar handset design. It will suit travelling workers that need email access while on the road. However, we would have liked to have seen 3G capability.

Overall Rating:

four star

Price: £ 270

Manufacturer: HTC

No Blackberry Client

It is a nice looking and very handy GSM. No issues with any voice transmission.
Configuration of the unit is less convenient than with other SmartPhones I did own before - partly because of the navigation, but also because of the slightly difficult menu structure.

Big killer for me is the fact that this device is not accepting any of the Blackberry Clients. All other HTC phones work with Blackberry mail servers - this one consequently refuses even the installation. If this is the new MS ethics ...

What about the ring volume

I noticed that on several Windows Mobile Devices, the ring volume was very low. How is it with this device?

Any comparisons with HP's iPAQ 514 Mobile Messenger?

HTC S710 smartphone

HTC S710 smartphone is 140 grams not 120, so not that easy to carry around

[The European model weighs 120g, the North American variant is a little heavier at 140g - Ed]

Tied to HTC headset? NOT

Let's see.

Step 1. Attach ExtUSB cable-audio converter

Step 2. Attach my favorite headphones

Step 3. ???

Step 4. Profit

It is strange that the reviewer is savvy enough to know that Expansys will sell the phone, but not savvy enough to know that they already sell mini cables that let you use ANY HEADPHONES YOU WANT WITH THE S710.
