HP – it has really changed over that period, and its technology is indispensable.
Which mobile device do you currently use?
An HTC TYN II, which I prefer to the BlackBerry.
What coming government legislation will most affect your IT operations?
Like most companies, building firms have to be aware of e-discovery rules. It has never been more important to be able to access documents and data. And the building industry produces a lot of both.
If you were not in IT, what would you be doing?
Definitely carpentry. It is an early and enduring passion of mine.
Which technology has had the biggest impact on your working life?

It should go without saying – the internet.
What keeps you awake at night?
It has nothing to do with technology – it is the wife snoring.
Is now a good time for people to enter the UK IT profession?
Yes, it is always a good time to enter the exciting and changing world of IT.
