Technology trade association CompTIA has launched a global cloud computing qualification, which has been developed with input from technology giants including Microsoft, Google and IBM.
Students who successfully complete the course will be given a certification in cloud computing, which CompTIA hopes will become a standard requirement for those seeking to work in both cloud service procurement and provision.
"As cloud computing was so quick to take off, it is now just being understood as best practices and standards have emerged," CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux told Computing.
"This training programme is the first of its kind for the cloud community; it is for those who deal with hosted, public or private cloud services."
The course has six core modules covering areas such as the business perspective and value of cloud, adoption of cloud, the impact cloud has on IT services and its potential risks and consequences.
The course and examinations take a week to complete on a full-time basis. The course will start in the UK from 1 December and will have been rolled out globally by the end of the first quarter of 2012.
I welcome this path taken by CompTIA. I do hope though that they have really beefed up this course so as to measure up to the likes of 3Tera,IBM and so on. I would love to teach a course that is extremely valuable to the student and gains acceptance by employers.
