Police forces seek IT provider to deliver shared services

Thames Valley Police is seeking an IT provider to facilitate the transition and migration of its existing services to a new shared services platform.

Thames Valley is looking to consolidate its existing voice and data network arrangements with forces from Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex Police.

The total value of the five-year deal is likely to be between £20m and £90m.

This will see it comply with standards established by the South East Police Shared Network Services Agreement (Sepsnsa), as well as benefit from the operational efficiencies afforded by it.

The Sepsnsa will support the forces' existing voice and data network estates and supporting services, as well as establish a shared network service platform, and a roadmap for technology refresh.

This will help enable the forces to move towards shared services over the next five years.

The services include the provision of a wide-area network (WAN), which would include equipment, network access and support services; a local-area network (LAN), network security services and internet access as well as broadband services (ISP services).
