The use of mobile broadband for big-screen devices, such as laptops and tablets, is set to soar over the next five years.
Industry analyst Ovum predicts that by 2015 there will be 74 million enterprise contracts for big-screen broadband connections, which is up from 25.8 million in 2010.
This equates to a compound annual growth rate of 24 per cent.
"An increasingly mobile workforce and the intensifying need for them to be able to access data wherever they are is driving the strong predicted growth in the number of enterprise broadband connections," said Pauline Trotter, Ovum principal analyst.
"However, we see that many enterprises find mobility increasingly difficult to manage, particularly as employees increasingly want to bring their own devices, including iPads, iPhones and Android devices, into the workplace and connect these to the company network."
Mobile handsets will continue to dominate the enterprise market, with connections on enterprise contracts set to grow at a compound annual growth rate of six per cent up until 2015, reaching 233 million contracts by this time.
