James Brokenshire has been appointed crime and security minister, after Baroness Neville-Jones left the position on Monday, allegedly of her own volition.

"There will inevitably be speculation that Pauline Neville-Jones's departure from government was sparked by an internal row over counter-terror policy in general.

The Baroness will continue to advise the government on matters of cyber security, despite leaving her post.

Brokenshire has left his previous role as Crime Prevention Minister to take on the new position.
