DHL has teamed up with IT firm NetDespatch to provide easy online booking of its Same Day courier service. The new online booking tool means that businesses and consumers do not need to set up a DHL account to access the service, and can instead pay by credit or debit card or via PayPal.
DHL worked with web software provider NetDespatch to create the booking tool, through the software firm's eTrader account-free web booking platform, which enables consumers and small businesses to access its Same Day delivery services more conveniently. The Same Day service enables parcels to be delivered on the same day in the UK, seven days a week.
As a result of implementing the software, the DHL web site ensures that customers are guided through the booking process and are able to select the level of service they need. A quote for the service is displayed in detail to the customer, who can then continue the transaction by confirming and paying using a credit/debit card or PayPal.
Integration with the DHL Same Day despatch systems means that a courier is sent to collect the package from the customer's doorstep when requested, and according to DHL, this could be as soon as one hour. Customers can also follow the progress of their parcels from their collection to the point of delivery.
The eTrader system provides confirmation of booking, collection and delivery alerts via email and electronic invoices.
