Food and drink business Danone has implemented software from Sterling Commerce to create a secure trading network that automates and speeds up transactions with its customers and business partners.
Danone worked with Sterling Commerce, acquired by IBM last year, to replace its old network and roll out the Sterling Collaboration Network across its global business units.
The deployment involves bringing 600 trading partners onto the Sterling Collaboration Network and the management of nine million pieces or correspondence a year.
Danone said that the software provides Danone and its community of customers and partners with real-time visibility of accounts, message details and business processes.
"Success in the fast-moving consumer goods sector depends entirely on the ability to communicate immediately and effectively with different partners across the supply chain to gain control over processes and inventory," said Ronald Teijken, Sterling Commerce EMEA manufacturing industry executive.
