In a technology agreement with Foundry Networks, Hewlett-Packard has added two high-speed routing switches to its ProCurve range of networking devices.

The ProCurve Routing Switch 9304M and Routing Switch 9308M provide HP with solutions for the Lan backbone, and complete a comprehensive product range that covers everything from the desktop to the backbone.

Both the 9304M and 9308M routing switches are chassis-based models, offering four and eight slots respectively, supporting a mix of 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for high-density desktop aggregation, and backbone routing.

The 9304M has a rated performance of 50 million packets per second (pps), with a maximum capacity of up to 32 Gigabit ports or 96 10/100 ports, while the 9308 has a rated performance of 100 million packets per second, with up to 64 Gigabit ports, or 192 10/100 ports.

The switches offer IP, IPX and AppleTalk routing, along with support for IGMP, DVMRP and PIM for multicast operations. They also feature policy-based VLans, Layer 4 Quality of Service functionality, and automatic-switch failover capabilities.

Both products will be available from March, with prices for the ProCurve Routing Switch 9304M starting from #6,324 and the ProCurve Routing Switch 9308M starting from #12,649.
