IBM buys into storage de-duplication

IBM has bought data de-duplication developer Diligent Technologies for an undisclosed sum.

Andrew Monshaw, IBM storage general manager said: "Diligent's data de-duplication software is critical technology. It will be integrated into IBM's storage portfolio."

De-duplication is seen as an emerging technology in data centre efficiency as it promises faster backups and recovery and optimial use of storage assets.
