CoSoSys has released a security tool designed to control the use of USB storage devices on Windows Vista PCs.

Secure it Easy, available now, functions as a USB Firewall, according to CoSoSys. It only allows storage devices that have been authorised as a trusted device by an administrator to transfer data to or from the PC, while all other devices are blocked.

The tool is designed to stop workers from unwittingly infecting systems with malware in files brought into the office via USB storage devices, but also stops users from connecting digital cameras and music players to company PCs.

Secure it Easy can optionally be configured to alert an administrator by email if an unauthorised device is connected to a system, helping to track security breaches before they become a problem.

The software supports Windows Vista, XP and Windows 2000 and costs £23. Volume licenses are also available.
