Symbian tie up with Google is a possibility

Open source smart phone platform Symbian may tie up with Google's Android mobile offering at an operating or application level.

Reports say Nigel Clifford, CEO of Symbian, told a Tokyo press conference that the two companies had already worked closely together, and that Symbian was among the first mobile platforms to use Google applications.

Symbian was recently bought out by Nokia, and the launch of Google's Android mobile platform has been delayed.

The move would be seen as an alliance to take on Windows mobile and Apple's 3G iPhone.

Apple the almighty

I already understood that Apple's iPhone was unbeatable by Nokia and even by Google. But together could be different.

Symbian is now open source. Android is also open source. Nokia has the hardware knowledge, Google has the money. Frightening team. Yesterday on a blog one suggest Google should buy Motorola to be on the starting block at the same level with Apple and Nokia. He was wrong, I was blind.

Is it legal? Nokia bought symbian to open the sources. This way Google and Nokia are trying to by-pass monopoly and competition rules and they can work together. Who's left Rim, not for long. If Google and Nokia work on open source freely, Rim and other gonna join them!!!

Legal or not. Apple should worry even if they have a strong position with Ipod-Itune, Iphone-Appstore, AppleTv-MovieRental. Apple have to hire engineers, increase the rate of creation of new phones, new product, decrease price, etc.
