The ATM bandwagon isn't free-wheeling through Europe as powerfully as expected. According to a new study by Total Research European, network managers perceive ATM to be the leading-edge technology of the moment.

Yet more of them are actually implementing frame relay.

The Total Research survey, sponsored by the Frame Relay Forum, polled 145 network managers across the UK, France and Germany, and discovered that frame relay is rapidly supplanting X.25 networks.

In the UK, 63% of managers have chosen to replace X.25 with frame relay, with 64% of French network managers following suit and 59% of their German counterparts.
