Banks settle on exchange system

Twenty of the world's largest banks, including Barclays, NatWest and HSBC, agreed last week to set up a global settlement system for foreign exchange transactions. The system aims to reduce the risk of a bank being unable to make all its outgoing payments during a working day.

A new company, CLS Services, based in London, will develop the system.
