National Express gets WiFi buses

Bus company National Express is piloting WiFi on coach services from Cambridge to London.

The company, which is working in partnership with wireless specialist Telabria, will use the technology to allow passengers travelling on its vehicles to use the internet and check email.

National Express chief engineer Gerry Price says the company is very excited about the potential of WiFi and the benefits it will bring to customers.

'On busy commuter routes increasingly see the value of staying connected before they reach their place of work and after they leave,' he said.

National Express regards itself as an early adopter of technology and says all sorts of passengers will benefit from the introduction of WiFi.

'Mobile communication is increasingly being seen as a pre-requisite by a wide variety of travellers on the move,' Price said.

Train operators including GNER and Virgin are already installing WiFi on their fleets.
