Vodafone has bought stakes in ad company Amobee

Vodafone and O2 are buying undisclosed stakes in mobile phone advertising firm Amobee, the network companies announced today.

The move is being seen as an attempt to stop search giants such as Google and Yahoo dominating the nascent market.

Though revenue models are not yet certain, the expectation is of cheaper mobile services for customers agreeing to receive advertising.
