IT industry representatives will be sleeping rough in central London tonight in the annual Byte Night charity fundraising event.

Some of the UK IT's most senior executives are taking part, with the aim of raising £200,000 for the charity for the young and homeless, NCH.

Computing editor Michael Gubbins is one of the sleepers again this year, joined by, among others, Leslie Stretch, UK managing director of Sun Microsystems, Steve Gill, managing director of HP UK & Ireland, Nick Watson, managing director UK at Cisco Systems, and Rick Skett, managing director of Intel UK.

'This the third year I have taken part in Byte Night and Computing is delighted to support such a worthy cause,' said Gubbins.

The event will take place at Potter's Field, next to Tower Bridge.
