Salaries for IT staff in the South East of England have risen by 3.4 per cent over the past year, according to research.
The average wage is £33,513 for technology jobs across Surrey, Kent, Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Sussex, according to recruitment agency CV Screen.
"We have been experiencing continuing high demand for IT staff in 2007 and anticipated that there would be upward pressure on IT Salaries in the region," said CV Screen regional account manager Jason Price.
"Our expectation is that the IT jobs market in the region will remain buoyant in 2008, with continuing skills shortages in areas such as PHP, Citrix, .Net and Java."
The survey analysed 2500 job advertisements from the last three months of 2007.
