BT is to buy Securicor's 40% shareholding in Cellnet for #3.15 billion.

BT already owns the other 60% of the mobile operator. 'The acquisition will leave us well-placed to capitalise on the opportunities presented by second and third generation mobile technology,' said BT chief executive Peter Bonfield. Cellnet is the UK's second-biggest mobile phone operator, with over five million users.
