Distribution company Nisa-Today is deploying integration software to help manage the disparate supply chain systems of its retail members.

As the UK's largest wholesaler for independent food and convenience stores, the company is the aggregated buying, warehousing and distribution provider for 6,000 store outlets.

Members, which are typically smaller retailers, can now place replenishment orders direct using Nisa-Today's systems.

The company needed to link old and new applications when it replaced an ageing merchandising system with software from supplier Retek, to ensure the integrity of its pricing and order capture data.

'We have a rich IT picture, with a lot of applications in a mixed software and hardware environment,' said Peter Walker, senior systems development manager at Nisa-Today. 'We have to capture orders from a variety of systems.'

Retek partner Enabler UK has implemented the eGate integration engine from SeeBeyond, allowing Nisa-Today to 'bring in new business because we can handle a lot of different order types', said Walker.

'That is in addition to putting distribution orders through the system without manual intervention,' he said.

'SeeBeyond is the glue that integrates our applications.'
