The British Computer Society has announced details of its IT Industry Awards, adding two new categories designed to recognise the importance of green technology and research.
The first of these, the Green Organisation of the Year award, will be awarded to firms best able to demonstrate how their use of IT had contributed to a reduction in their environmental footprint.
The Excellence in Research and Development award, is the second to be added to the list, and will be given to organisations, and this can stretch from research establishments such as universities, through to pioneering firms, that have excelled in their work.
The BCS awards now contain twenty four categories. "The awards provide a showcase for the profession as a whole to gain the recognition it deserves in a world where technology has become integral to every day life and business," said David Clarke, BCS chief executive.
