Online fashion retailer Asos has reported a sales drop over the festive season but played down slowing growth with optimistic expectations for its full-year results.
The firm posted an increase in sales of 30 per cent for the five-week period to 3 January, compared with an increase of 46 per cent over the seven weeks to 15 November.
The company’s chief executive Nick Robertson was quoted as saying that the slowdown was expected and adding that 30 per cent was a “phenomenal achievement”.
Sales at Asos have seen a year-on-year increase of 38 per cent for the 42 weeks to 17 January.
UK sales increased by 25 per cent and international was also up, by 102 per cent.
