A Computing logo

A man who avoided paying $113,000 (#40,000) in sales tax as part of a crusade to introduce computers to people who could not otherwise afford them has been jailed for two years. The court heard that Peter James O?Hare enjoyed selling computers cheaply and had made very little profit from his actions. Prosecutor Kate McGuinness said that a task force had been set up to investigate widespread sales tax avoidance in the computer industry and had identified O?Hare, 66, as one of its targets.
