At the Forrester Security Forum EMEA in Amsterdam, service management solutions specialist Altiris has launched an endpoint security solution and software designed to enable firms to combine their IT security with service management.
The new SecurityExpressions 4.0 security policy management product, which supports Vista, 64bit, and new Linux and Unix platforms, is integrated with Altiris Task Server software and third-party CRM products so that organisations can integrate security into their everyday workflow and processes, according to the firm.
The software is designed to help firms automatically audit, enforce and report on security policies, aiding compliance with regulations and improving customer service.
“A lot of vendors say everything you need is in this box or in this download, but the best solution is a combined technology and business process solution,” argued Altiris product management director Stephen Brown.
The vendor also launched its Endpoint Security Solution, which can help organisations mitigate against the risk of data loss, insecure wireless usage, malware and DOS attacks, and unauthorised port scans.
Using client security specialist Senforce Technologies’ location-aware capabilities, the product can automate the enforcement of security policies according to unique users.
In related news, over three-quarters of attendees at last month’s E-Crime Congress in London believe that US-style legislation should be in place to force firms to publically disclose any data breaches, a survey by web content security specialist Websense has found.
Respondents also reported that employees are the greatest risk to their organisation’s sensitive data.
