Content management company Hummingbird has purchased long time partner RedDot solutions in a $47.5m (£26m) deal.
The acquisition follows a long term partnership between the companies.
Ovum analyst Sarah Kittmer says the acquisition has been on the cards for some time.
'A longstanding partnership between the two has, until now, helped bridge the web content management gap in Hummingbird's technology. This acquisition means the gap can now be closed for good,' she said.
Peter Aylward, the RedDot's UK managing director says the deal is unlikely to lead to any significant changes in its personnel.
'RedDot is still very much focussed on enterprise content management market, which is one of the main reasons for its acquisition, and we'll continue in that strain,' he added.
