Nationwide Building Society has signed a £160m contract deal with BT to manage its networked IT services and consolidate existing infrastructure onto the supplier’s 21CN global network.

By moving to outsourcing from its traditional in-house structure, the building society hopes to gain more service flexibility and financial efficiency through the use of a cost predictability model and reduced overall price of ownership.

“Nationwide’s growth in recent years has meant that our IT infrastructure has also had to evolve at an exponential rate to keep up with demand and we must now seek the most efficient and scalable infrastructure service possible to support this,” said Nationwide’s head of IT infrastructure Peter Stafford.
