Virgin Media's business arm has upgraded its High Capacity Services offerings from 1Gbit/s to 10Gbit/s. It has also upgraded its Ethernet offering.
Virgin Media Business product manager David Green said: "This will help businesses to use dedicated high-speed lines to access mission-critical data, link to a datacentre running applications, or run their own [private] cloud computing services."

"The upgraded High Capacity Services offering can now support up to 40 x 10Gbit/s circuits between two sites," said Green.
"With High Capacity Services, customers can purchase a number of 10Gbit/s connections (either LAN or WAN) or alternatively if they require discrete 1Gbit/s, then we can provide multiple 1Gbit/s services," he added.
The enhanced Ethernet Extensions offering means customers can connect multiple sites up to 35km apart and integrate their equipment at both sites. This is an upgrade from the original Ethernet extensions – also called LAN extensions – which could provide point-to-point circuits at bandwidths of 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s between two locations at a distance of 25km.
Green said: "We are offering a 10Gbit/s line, and if customers want to carve this up into more granular chunks, say 1Gbit/s, then they are able to do so at their site."
Like High Capacity Services, Ethernet Extensions are proactively managed by Virgin Media Business.
Green said the pricing would be dependent upon a customer's unique requirements and that Virgin Media offers comprehensive standard service-level agreements (SLAs) with the services.
"However," said Green, "we'll look to tailoring our services for our custome rs and will, where possible, create SLAs that meet specific customer requirements."
The offerings are aimed at wholesale, public sector and corporate customers, who can order online through Virgin Media Businesses' customer portal.
