Compuserve is courting SMEs that need access to online information with a service designed to undercut established providers such as Reuters and Profound.
The Business Tracker service, offered free to Compuserve customers, will give access to company reports, stock prices and market information. More detailed searches will be available on a pay-per-view basis.
Compuserve UK general manager, Martin Turner, said: 'Companies like Reuters aim for the power users but they're starting to realise there is a market for people who need information on a more occasional basis. We're putting tools in the hands of smaller businesses.'
Business Tracker is being put together in conjunction with information service company Maid and is scheduled to go live this week after Compuserve completes testing of the billing system.
Compuserve has some 250,000 corporate users in the UK.
