British Gas parent Centrica has rolled out a business service management (BSM) system to better align IT with the needs of the organisation.
Vendor Interlink Software was chosen following an extensive evaluation process during which its BSM system was proved to integrate with Centrica's existing systems and network management tools.
Centrica's enterprise systems management manager, Richard Huntley, said the new tools aim to improve reliability, performance and incident resolution times.
"BSM is all about aligning the management of technology with the business needs, instead of managing IT as a collection of infrastructure components," he said.
The full rollout provides real-time and historical business service dashboards, a federated configuration management database, and systems management capabilities.
The software allows Centrica to improve visibility of business services and process flows for its IT support staff, management and client-facing staff through the web-based dashboards.
