Whitehall is to establish a Civil Service Steering Board to oversee implementation of cross-government initiatives such as the Varney Review.
The Cabinet Office-led steering board will include senior permanent secretaries to help drive organisational change. It was proposed by the Capability Review published this week.
‘We will ensure the public gets the Civil Service it deserves – a service passionately committed to making government work better,’ said cabinet secretary Sir Gus O’Donnell.
Sir David Varney’s report on public service delivery, says joined-up working will cut costs.
