BT has launched a new 8Mbit/s broadband package for small and medium-sized businesses that includes security tools for all office PCs and capped UK and international VoIP calls.
BT Business Total Broadband also includes a second free voice line, which will be useful for home workers, and comes with 250 free BT Openzone wireless minutes per month, which can be redeemed by mobile workers at any of the 30,000 hotspots worldwide, according to BT's Chris Lindsay.
"Time and again businesses are telling us they are looking for service and reliability," he explained. "This package is designed just for businesses; we've customised it and made sure it's fit for purpose."
To this end, Option 3 customers will receive free access to BT's advanced telephone support, called IT Support Manager, if they experience software or configuration problems.
The security package includes firewall, antivirus and content-filtering capabilities, with a centralised policy management facility to follow, said Lindsay.
BT WorkSpace, a new web-based collaboration tool, is also included, and can aid firms in planning and managing projects with third parties, he added.
"It's a hosted intranet and extranet in a box," said Lindsay. "Instead of sharing huge emails, you can see what the latest documents look like, notify people about the latest news and so on, and because it is hosted it removes the IT pain of setting up and maintaining."
