A framework has been established allowing enterprises to take legal action against application service providers (ASP) who fail to meet service level agreements. 175 countries have signed up to the framework, which will also incorporate ASPs in other countries. The World Intellectual Property Organisation (Wipo) and the Application Service Provider Industry Consortium have drawn up a mechanism to deal with complaints. If an ASP is found at fault, Wipo will decide on a penalty, which will be imposed by the ASPs home authorities.
