Blair turns on the National Grid

Tony Blair formally switched on the national education intranet ? the National Grid for Learning ? last week, promising it #1 billion in funding until 2002. The Grid will provide high-speed Internet links for schools and approve educational web sites, and aims to stimulate the development of new educational software.
