He may have been big news at the Object Management Group's awards last week, but the chief prize-giver, IBM's John Slitz, was doubting his place in history afterwards. The vice president of object technology and all-round maverick sighed: 'I would consider it a badge of honour to say something important enough to bring down IBM.' Backbytes says: 'Keep trying, John, you're on the right lines.'
