Sun Microsystems has introduced a 336MHz version of its Ultrasparc II processor and has scored what it claims is the highest 1TB TPC-D benchmark result ever. The company said a Sun Enterprise 3000 or 6000 server equipped with the processor and the latest compiler would deliver up to 43 per cent higher performance than previous 250MHz models.
