Ford focuses on outsourcing as cost control engine

Motor giant Ford has outsourced its payroll and time and attendance service.

The multimillion-pound, five-year contract will use a new time and attendance system from Crown Computing implemented in partnership with Logica, with the services scheduled to go live in 2010.

Ford will use Logica’s secure hosting environment RTIS (Real-Time Infrastructure Services), for delivering the Oracle-based software, which uses a pay-as-you-go model that removes the traditional, upfront software licence fee. The Oracle payroll system will integrate with Ford’s existing PeopleSoft HR application.

Ford hopes to see cost savings and increased efficiency through more automation across the business, with its payroll staff focusing less on administration and more on value-added activities.

Ford’s relationship with Logica extends more than 20 years, and the new service contract will extend the relationship to 2014.
