Department store House of Fraser is using a new point-of-sale (POS) system for four of its new stores in the UK and Ireland.

The company's latest two shops in Belfast and High Wycombe use the Wincor Nixdorf-supplied platform, which it is claimed has played an important role in the successful launch.

“The immediate success of the new stores has demonstrated that by making the right strategic investments in new stores, we can gain competitive advantage while the rest of the retail sector struggles to keep up,” said Duncan Gray, director of IT services at House of Fraser.

At the back end, House of Fraser is also improving its supply chain management systems. The group has recently rolled out a data synchronisation service to better manage product information.
