e-skills UK has announced its long-term strategy for developing the IT skills needed to maintain the UK's economic competitiveness - and Computing readers are being invited to give their feedback on the plan.
The draft Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) is a blueprint for establishing a training and education infrastructure that will meet the IT needs of employers for the next decade.
The plan aims to unite business, educators and government to ensure school-leavers and students enter the workforce with the necessary IT skills, to promote IT as a career, and to ensure the existing workforce can access the training and development needed for the future.
'This is really bringing to a head the impact that the collective action of employers can have on the skills infrastructure,' said Karen Price, chief executive of e-skills UK.
'It is a moment in time when I believe we will see a step change in what is delivered by government and its agencies, both in the planning and funding of skills.'
The draft SSA is open to consultation now, and Price is asking Computing readers to say what they think of the proposals.
