Specsavers' network will connect 800 shops

Specsavers has signed a £4.5m contract with Vanco to run its wide area network (WAN).

The five-year deal includes the design, implementation and management of a network connecting 800 stores across the UK.

Specsavers needed to increase bandwidth and scalability, while still reducing costs, said IT operations manager Ruskin Snow.

"Having the most suitable network for our needs means that we have the freedom to carry on growing and concentrate on our core activity," he said.
