Wolseley UK has signed a £5m contract to install a new voice network to handle calls at its 1,700 sites across the country.

The deal with vendor Thus will provide the company, which owns retail outlets Plumb Center, Build Center and Electric Center, with a more resilient voice network to support its customer services operations and save money.

Under the terms of the deal Wolseley will get wholesale line rental, direct voice connections and an inbound call service with online management interface to its call centres around the UK.

The voice system will support the most vital communication commodities in the business, says Wolseley information systems director Brian Horsfield.

'Throughout the competitive tender process, the Thus team continually demonstrated that they fully understood our voice requirements and would be able mitigate risk throughout this large scale deployment,' he said.
