Research in Motion shipped 3.9 million devices in the third quarter

Third quarter revenue at Blackberry manufacturer Research in Motion rose 22 per cent quarter on quarter to $1.67bn (£843m), doubling the $835m (£422m) recorded in the same period last year.

Profit jumped 64 per cent to $370m (£187m), up from $175m (£89m). The company shipped 3.9 million devices in the quarter, and added 1.65 million new Blackberry subscribers to its user base.
