The IT Industry is the latest victims of extortion and bomb threats, writes Stuart Lauchlan. Sun Microsystems was forced to evacuate its offices four times, and Microsoft's Bill Gates has been receiving death threats.
A 21-year-old Illinois man, Adam Quinn Pletcher, was charged with threatening Gates' life as part of a plot to extort more than $5bn.
Pletcher sent four letters to Gates, the last one telling him to pay the money into a foreign bank account if he wanted 'to avoid dying.'
If found guilty, Pletcher faces a $250,000 fine and 20 years in jail.
