The software will help schedule staff hours

More than 500 Currys and Dixons stores across the UK are to start using productivity management software to help ensure adequate staffing levels in shops.
Owner DSG International is already using the Torex-supplied system in 160 PC World stores, where it has proved such a success that the application is being rolled out to all UK electronics stores in the group.

The software provides managers with information on the staff numbers required for each shop, based on data such as sales targets, inventory, time needed to serve customers, and any local needs.

The system also records hours worked and can be used for employee scheduling.

“Our goal is to offer our customers an unbeatable combination of value, choice and service,” said DSGi head of productivity Jon Naylor.

“By tailoring our resources to suit each store’s particular requirements, Torex Productivity Management will help us achieve this.”

The STARS system

The STARS system is what it's known as in PC World. Your shift pattern will be consistently erratic regardless of how many or how few hours you work. It's fair to say it hasn't been universally popular with staff.
