The AA has upgraded its network and contact centre infrastructure to a converged voice and data system as part of a three-year network service deal.
Telecoms supplier Cable & Wireless has overseen the year-long replacement of legacy voice, data and contact centre networks with a single managed IP network platform.
The system works across all of The AA’s businesses, including the road services, financial services, driving school and publishing divisions, and will also serve as the basis for migration to voice-over IP (VoIP).
The deal has delivered significant cost savings and simplified The AA’s processes, says director of information systems Trevor Didcock, as a single supplier now handles all the company's service requirements.
‘We chose Cable & Wireless as our strategic telecoms partner, creating one dedicated supplier for managed network services,’ he said.
‘This supplier agreement is cost-effective, positions the network for the future and further streamlines our processes.’
He says the contract also allows the UK’s largest membership organisation to focus on delivering service to its 15 million members.
