Netopia has added to its Timbuktu Pro family of Remote Control solutions, with the immediate availability of Timbuktu Pro 32, which features device-independent screen sharing between Windows NT machines and other computers.
This is possible using Netopia's new V-wedge technology, which is designed to increase the performance of screen sharing and remote access within NT environments. Furthermore, the new V-wedge technology doesn't require any special video drivers or other changes to the operating system.
Among other new features is Multi-point Remote Control, which allows multiple users to access servers, collaborate with colleagues and initiate file transfers among them.
There is also increased integration with Network Neighbourhood, to make browsing Timbuktu-enabled machines easier and help create shortcuts, and integration with native NT Security, allowing administrators to use security features that have already been deployed throughout the network. Additional security features include secure screen blanking, password encryption, password ageing and event logging.
Also released is the new Timbuktu Pro Enterprise 2.0. As well as featuring the standard release of Timbuktu Pro 32, Enterprise 2.0 also includes a Universal Licence, which allows administrators to install and move Timbuktu licences to all of their supported platforms, without having to pay an upgrade fee. Further administration tools include Timbuktu Network Installers, Site Key generators and integration tools for Microsoft SMS, Remedy ARS, Tivoli, and CA Unicenter.
Timbuktu Pro 32 is available immediately in twin, 10- and 30-pack configurations at a price of #119. The Enterprise version is also available now at a price of #4,580 for 100 seats.
