Managing virtual infrastructure in the datacentre is a challenge

Novell is to buy virtualisation management software and services provider PlateSpin in a $205m (£104m) cash deal.

The acquisition is expected to be complete by the end of the current quarter and will add PlateSpin’s virtual infrastructure consolidation planning and performance monitoring tools to Novell's portfolio.

Businesses are increasingly interested in potential cost savings and operational efficiencies from data centre virtualisation technology.
