The service also encompasses round-the-clock support and maintenance, along with ongoing audit and consultancy of the company's 6,500-strong mobile device estate.

"We have quite a large mobile workforce and work with a number of SMEs, so one of our main challenges resides in managing our mobile and PDA estate," said Connaught head of IT Lucien Wynn.

"It is not just about providing the technology to people, but how to run it in a cost-effective way and add value to the business."

Key benefits include a clearer understanding of the company's telecoms costs and the ability to forecast spending, said Wynn, as well as skills and resources available to monitor the mobile estate.

The deal also involves the management and analysis of an existing two-year contract with O2.
