In the event of a so-called 'force majeure' incident, the five Local Service Providers (LSPs) contracted by NHS IT director general Richard Granger to support the National Programme may no longer be under an obligation to deliver. But they will still be fined.

'Delay and service deductions continue to be payable,' says the contract.

Accenture won two of the LSP deals, with BT, CSC and Fujitsu awarded the other contracts.
