An innovative tool to help people with dementia remember facts about their life has won Microsoft’s DesignIT competition.
During the past three months, Computing has worked alongside the software giant and invited IT professionals to design a system for a charity of their choice.
A judging panel, including Computing editor Bryan Glick, shortlisted five projects that were put to the public vote.
Said Dajani’s winning entry for the Alzheimer’s Society proposed a secure screensaver that people with dementia and their carers could use as a memory prompt.
The winner will now work alongside a team of Microsoft specialists to deploy the design, funded by a £15,000 budget.
Runners-up included a records system for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and a carbon calculator for the environmental charity Global Action Plan.
