CA sees strong growth

Software company CA saw first quarter profits jump 55 per cent from $129m (£65m) in last year's opening three months to $200m (£101m) this time.

Revenue also rose six per cent to $1.087bn (£550m) from $1.025bn (£518m).

Chief executive John Swainson said: “I am confident about CA’s position in the marketplace and we are reaffirming our outlook for fiscal year 2009.”

Total North American revenue was up three per cent in the first quarter while revenue from international operations was up 10 per cent compared with the same period last year.
